Clem got back from getting a new tire in good time to rearrange some things and have some lunch, and get out by the late check out time we had asked the office for. I was certain we would have to spend another day, and we were both pleasantly surprised to be able to leave on schedule.
We had stayed overnight in Ormond Beach, near Daytona, at a very unique campground that was actually arranged in circles! Probably built before the Big Rigs came into favor, the roadways and turns were a bit tight for me, but the place overall was very pleasant. Quiet at this time of year, I bet in season it gets pretty full. We have now of course crossed into the land of hot and humid summers, where we are OUT of season, as opposed to those that get busy during summer!
Wonder if I should consider one of these?......
My walk around the campground turned up a couple of these cute little places along the back of the property.
As we drove toward Jupiter, the sky took on greater dimension, as the trees and foliage along the way grew shorter. No more towering pines, which had still been evident in the upper peninsula and at the campground we just left. Clem always says he likes the big sky in Florida, and it becomes that! I also saw a return of the white egrets that are so familiar to us, but have been absent, and replaced by colorful songbirds.
Gassing up with the big boys! Filling it up close to home so we have a full tank to store and set out next time.
My personal gas station attendant! Hey....look up so I can get your face! Its a long way down there!
We pulled into Jonathan Dickinson State Park, plugged the coach in for AC, and without even putting the slides out, loaded the cats and groceries and clothing I had packed up while waiting for Clem to get a tire. There will be more to collect when we return and clean the coach for storage, but it was still quite a bit of work, and then of course unloading once we got to the house! We used to drive the coach to the house when we were taking long trips, but the new neighborhood will not allow it, so it makes double work! Load one delivered and put away, the kitties checking out the house and Loki following me around like my shadow, we ordered dinner in, and went to bed early!
Sunrise back at home. Clem says the best view of any place we had been. Wellllll.......
A few shots of her closed up....
....and a nice campsite, if it were not so hot, and we were staying! Site 25...nice privacy for the patio area.
Tuesday morning, back to JD, opened it up so I could clean and change the sheets while Clem did the tank maintenance. He got the worst part of it, since it was hot already, while I was at least in the AC. It was amazing how much we yet had to load! We had made some purchases which I had stowed, and we bought wine and bourbon, and clothes that were hanging in the closet, most of which were never worn! I brought cool weather clothing, and trust me, we did not see one day of cool! Odds and ends, and stuff from the freezer.....just like moving! So another car load full, and then unloading at the house. Then lunch and a nap!
For people who don't drink, we sure bought a lot of booze! You do get caught up in the tastings, but we also thought it would be fun to have a party and let our friends taste and compare!
Its funny how in two months time you become accustomed to a place. I have to remind myself where things go in the kitchen, reaching first where they were in the motorhome! I saw Florida plates on the road and my first instinct was , oh look! Somebody from Florida! Oh wait....we're in Florida now!
When we went back in the morning, I looked for the cats when I went into the coach, and Clem admitted he did the same . Funny.
Purchased at the Salt and Pepper Shaker museum, and just like the sleeping bear we saw in the tree! A great remembrance!
Everything is finally put away now, I have a load in the washer, and it's time for my final entry for our 2018 trip. It was a great trip, with lots of places and experiences, and I am glad to have the blog to look back and help remind me of all we did! And like always, I was so glad to have those reading this along for the ride!
