Atlanta Botanical Garden

Morning air was relatively cool and dry, so we decided to go to the garden before the afternoon heat, and what seems to be the regular afternoon rain!
We were delighted to find a beautiful garden, with winding paths and lots of shade and beautiful plantings and flowers, in addition to the special display of what we learned were called Mosaicultures, rather than topiaries.  Metal structures were built in Canada, and shipped to a nearby location where tiny plant plugs were applied, and allowed to grow before shipping the sculptures to the garden.  A large workforce is required to keep the garden and the sculptures so manicured, and  we were able to chat with a gal giving Pegasus some extra water.  It was her third time that day to check him, and they are mostly on a drip system of irrigation, but with the severe heat, they keep extra watch and provide extra water when needed.

At first very disappointed that they were trimming the Earth Goddess, it turned out to be a great opportunity to watch the work and get some shots.   I did return three times in order to get a shot without the workers, however!

We had a nice lunch at the restaurant for a break, but it was still very hot, and we passed on a second adventure for the day and returned to the coach for dinner, and then a walk around when it finally cooled off a bit.
