I....found......my......thri-ills......

Amazing how things can trigger a song!

We left Massachusetts on Monday, both feeling a little melancholy that we are leaving after such a nice visit.

Clem has planned this trip to encompass his two month limit, yet include what we want to see, so we were faced with several days of straight driving.   I started grumbling a bit,  but he had planned enough days to allow us to change it two long driving days, and give us a stay in between the last day and Sevierville, which will be our home base to explore Pigeon Forge and the Great Smoky Mountains.
I prefer a long driving day when it is just for a layover, and not something I want to see, but the roads in the Northeast are riddled with bumpy repairs of pot holes, and it becomes tiring.  Not to mention aggravating!!   So I am glad to have today to do a bit of exploring here and relax this afternoon, when once again we have afternoon storms predicted, and then can set out fresh tomorrow.

The weather has not been a total washout, but tends to rain a bit almost every day, leaving things in a constant state of damp, and usually overcast.  The clouds are most likely keeping the heat at bay, so I can't complain too much!

The damp remark reminds me of our "neighbors" on Blueberry Hill!
We had just set up, and were preparing to go out for a walk around the campground, when I spotted her taking a photo of our coach.  I hustled to to say hi, ...and see what was up......and he approached and said...we thought we were small, until you pulled in....now we are tiny!

Nice, gregarious couple that I judged to be a bit older, and a new shiny little trailer.  We soon learned that .....among other things......they had been going together for 4 years, met on a dating site, and had celebrated their 75th birthdays with a party, at which her daughter had insisted it was about time to be married, so they did!   They were celebrating one month of that new marriage, and breaking the trailer in preparing for a trip to Colorado.

We meet the nicest people sometimes while traveling.  And often with interesting tales, or coincidences.  A woman at a rest area and I were looking at a map, and she said hi, and I quickly learned they had also just been in MA for three weeks, and were headed back to Florida, where the Villages are home!  Plenty of Florida plates on the road with motorhomes!  And two Oregon plates in the campground in MA!  Unfortunately, I never crossed paths with them to chat.
